It has been a while...

So I am not very good at blogging but I intend to get better.  There is a lot to update on.  Shaun lost his job about two years ago and we were all praying for God to lead him somewhere.  That is actually how the idea for Mother Nature's Beauty was started.  Well just last month God answered and gave Shaun a job at a resort up near Yosemite.  It isn't what he wants to do as a career but it is a job and in this market that is such a blessing.

So, last week he was waiting on a couple and they offered him a job.  Maybe that is what God had in mind this whole time.  If everything works out it could be a career lead not just a job lead, it could mean a much brighter future for our family and our boys' future.

I will be praying for God's will on this one...

Just a quick note...

I just wanted to put it out there...I love Joyce Meyers.  I have grown so much from listening to her speak.  She definitely reminds me that God is with me and has my best interest in heart, both things you need to hear when you are feeling a bit down.  Thanks Joyce!

Samaritan Women

At church on Sunday we had a group from and organization called Samaritan Women.  They are a part of the Fresno Mission.  These women have been in jail or prison but are now getting a chance at living a Christian life.  They are taken care of so that they may focus on building a strong relationship with God.  I was so moved by this group that I just had to write a little bit about them.  I have a checkered past myself though I have never been incarcerated.  I am a big believer in second chances and that is exactly what Samaritan Women is providing for these women.  If you feel inclined check out the Fresno Mission website and donate whatever you can to the cause...time, money, prayer, anything.  I myself am becoming a pen pal with women inmates.  I love to write so I figured it was a way I could bless the group.  I will also be praying for the group.
God Bless these Women of Faith!

Being Washed Away!

On August 24 I had a massive panic attack. This is nothing new for me, I have been dealing with them for over fifteen years now. The thing is it has been a while since I have had one so this was actually a surprise attack. Usually, I pray and they go away...this time prayer wasn't working. I was asking God to help me and he was letting me suffer. Then he spoke to me (I know it sounds crazy) and told me he wanted more from me. He told me to go write, so I did. I opened up my notebook and a scripture quote was staring me in the face:

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17

So this is what I wrote in response...
O.K. I get it!

So...God gave me a gift.
My family has stuggled in almost every imaginable way. My husband and I have been together since we were eighteen, we are now thirty. WOW! We have been together for twelve years...thanks to God. As with most couples who commit to fighting for their relationships we have had our ups and downs. I have left him more than once and have even filed for divorce. However, today I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt I am so very blessed to have him as my partner in life. We have three children. All boys.

In August of 2009 my husband lost his job. Up until recently I sort of glided around. I had a job here and there, stayed at home with my boys, went to school but nothing I could really call a career. It has always been one of number one priorities that I be home with my children while they are young. So those were are major issues along with plenty of littler ones I am sure I will touch on in the future.
For years I had been praying that God would change my husband or bless me when I have left him. The thing was that I was ignoring God and trying to do everything on my own. I would ask, but then fail to listen. God saved my marriage. I did nothing. I didn't really make any changes in myself and I didn't walk any closer to him. Then we suffered the loss of our income. So I began to pray again and ask for God to help my husband find a new job. Instead he gave me one.
Light for My Path moment...I pray for what I want...God gives me what I need. I have only heard that a gazillion times, only it was mere words, until just now. (Light for My Path Moments are little notes on things that just suddenly come to me. They are like other people's light bulb moments, but I am giving the credit to God.)

I am going to back track a bit now. I accepted Jesus as my savior at sixteen, for my boyfriend, who dumped me shortly there after. So I didn't think that God was really going to hold me to it. (Boy, am I lucky he did!) At 22 I decided to re-accept Jesus (and really mean it). I thought God would change my life and everything would just fall into place nice and neatly. Again, I was wrong. I didn't do anything to really strengthen my relationship with him. I went to church, when I felt like it or it was convenient, and that was about it. I wasn't even a Sunday Christian or a baby Christian, I was a faux Christian. I talked the talk but I was running from the walk!

At the beginning of this month I was baptized. It is something I have wanted to do for a long time but I wasn't really sure why. Once again, I didn't do anything differently...honestly I didn't even feel any differently. Only this time God was ready for me to act on my faith. So now we are back to where we began. God spoke to me and told me to write.

He told me that I have been sitting for long enough and that it was now time for me to stand up in faith. So that is what I am doing. This blog is going to be about the new life I am choosing to lead. Every trial, tribulation, miracle, blessing, everything.

God's given me a renewed marriage, three wonderful children and a job I am really enjoying. Now it is my turn to do something for him...let him have the credit, for it all. I know the devil will do his best to keep me down, that's is what he does when we finally stand up in faith, but I believe God will help me look through him.

God has given us all a gift...he gave us this day. I hope to use each day he gives me to be a blessing to others. This blog is for anyone and everyone who needs to hear the good news. I will tell you, if you would like to listen. I am not making big plans anymore, the plans are being left to God. I will focus on today and a few tomorrows and I will be listening to what God has to say. It is all his in the end anyways. So why not use his gift to us in a way that will please him and give him the glory he deserves?
